Challenging weekend for Stanley at Croft
Rounds 9 & 10 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship took place at the Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire, another track that Micah Stanley has not previously raced on.
Qualifying on Saturday saw Micah achieve a fantastic second place, just 0.125 seconds from Pole position in the Pro Am class, which turned out to be the highlight of a difficult weekend.
As the lights went out for race one Micah stalled the engine and eventually got away but was now in last position. Desperate to make up ground Micah set about chasing down the pack and by lap 7 he had made up 6 places but an error entering the chicane saw him clip the tyre stack damaging his steering and radiator. With a damaged car he managed to continue holding on to P5 at the flag.
After a disappointing first race, Micah lined up in P14 on the grid and this time had a much better start. By lap 6 Micah was now up to P3 in the Pro Am class. As he started lap 7 some debris thrown up from the car in front hit the windscreen and punctured a hole through it. Then entering turn one, Micah hit fluid that had been dropped and spun off the track.
Micah managed to re-join the race and carried on chasing the pack setting the fastest lap and finishing in P4.

“Overall, I have to say I’m pretty disappointed with the results from the weekend, but we have to take away the positives which are we still scored points and are still fighting for the title. The next three events are at tracks that I have raced on before so I’m hoping for much better results”.
The next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship is at Silverstone next weekend, 25th & 26th September
