Double Podium at European Debut for Maloy
Nick Maloy achieved a double podium finish at his European Debut at Barcelona over the weekend.
Taking part in the final round of the GT Winter series as part of his preparation for the European series later in the year Nick had never been to the track before or driven the car until Thursday. Saturday saw torrential rain, a condition that Nick had never driven in and subsequentially qualifying was cancelled. Starting from last place on Saturday Nick managed two safety cars and the wet conditions and drove his way into P3 at the flag.
Sunday saw dry conditions and Nick would start the 1-hour endurance in P11. As the race started Nick set about attacking the cars in front and as they approached the driver change window Nick past two of the Pro-Am cars in front with giving him the lead of the class. With all the cars now pitting to change drivers Nick stayed out and continued to make up time on the overall leaders eventually pitting to change drivers in the overall lead. With his AM partner now at the wheel the pairing would finish P3 in class.
The European GT4 Championship starts in April at Paul Ricard where Nick will partner with another Pro driver to challenge for the European Pro championship.
