Elias De La Torre IV Suffers Race Weekend Ending Crash During Qualifying
Elias De La Torre IV Suffered a weekend ending crash at the Weathertec Raceway, Leguna Seca at the weekend in the penultimate round of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Championship.
After a successful test the week before Elias had found some good pace and was confident going into the race weekend. During free practice in the wet conditions Elias topped the time sheets multiple times, but during qualifying a small mistake in turn 6 whilst on a really good lap put an end to his weekend.
Luckily Elias was uninjured in the high impact accident but unfortunately the car was too badly damaged for the team to repair at the circuit.
Elias De La Torre IV
"From the test, we saw the pace that we were capable of and were excited to continue it into the race weekend. We saw some good success in the first practice session, with a really good setup. The momentum continued in the second practice 2 having us go P1 multiple times in the damp conditions. I was excited and confident heading into Qualifying. One simple mistake I made exiting Turn 6 led to the end of our weekend as a whole. Big thanks to JDX for the hard work in our short weekend and for the work to come to get the car back together and 100% for COTA in October."
Jeremy Dale, Manging Partner / JDX Racing:
"The highs and lows of Motorsport were in full bloom for us at Laguna this weekend - it being one of those weekends that forces you to really dig in and stay focused." "I first want to say I’m really sorry Elias missed the two races on Sunday due to a crash in qualifying. He had done such an exceptional job at the test, and in practice as well. Very unfortunate, but we know he’ll finish strong at COTA."
