Season best finish for Yoder at Indianapolis finale
Aidan Yoder returned to the Toyota GR Cup at the weekend for the final round of the championship which took place at Indianapolis. Driving the #44 Precision Racing LA - Segra - Toyota GR86 Aidan managed to qualify in P9 for race 1 on Saturday.
Starting in P9 Aidan held position into the tricky turn 1 but as the field headed into turn 13 there was a huge accident with Aidan managing to avoid being collected by the spinning cars. The accident which eliminated 5 cars bought out the safety car. The race resumed on lap 7 and Aidan was nudged back one position on the opening lap. By lap 11 Aidan was up to P8 and closing in on a 4-car battle and by lap 20 was in the thick of the action, on lap 21 he snatched P7 and set about attacking for P6 but unfortunately the time ran out with Aidan crossing the line in P7.
The final race on Sunday saw Aidan start from P11 but the leading group attempted to go 5 wide into the tight one resulting in a reshuffling of the pack nudging the #44 back to P13, on lap 2 Aidan had regained a position but the safety car was deployed for an accident in turn 3. The race resumed on lap 6 and Aidan moved into P11, over the next few laps the # 44 was in an intense battle for position resulting in going 5 cars wide down the main straight with Aidan managing to pick up a couple more positions moving him into P9 and fighting for P8. Over the next few laps Aidan pressurised the #14 finally getting passed on lap 11 but had lost a lot of time behind the slower car. He continued to chase down the leading pack trying to make up the 4 seconds but again time had run out and he crossed the line in P8.
