Stanley bounces back with double win at Donington

Micah Stanley bounced back with 2 pole positions and 2 wins in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am Championship at Donington Park over the weekend. His title fight had looked to be all but over after suffering a huge crash at the previous round at Silverstone with no points and a destroyed car.

A fantastic lap in qualifying saw Micah snatch pole by just 0.054 seconds from his closest rival and as the lights went out for race 1 on Sunday, Micah was nudged back to second place until he retook the lead on lap 9. Micah held the lead until lap 14 where he was passed and pushed back to second place which he held until the flag. A post-race penalty was issued to the first-place car for a jump start elevating Micah to first place.

For race 2 which was live on ITV4 Micah again started from pole position, a fantastic start saw him hold his position and pull away from the chasing pack and by lap 23 he had extended his lead by 9 seconds over his closest rival giving him a lights to flag victory.

Micah Stanley

After the disappointment of Silverstone I knew what I had to do at Donington if I was to have any chance of keeping the championship challenge alive. We took maximum points this weekend which has put us right back in the fight. It’s going to be a tough fight at Brands Hatch with the points deficit but I’m going to give it my best shot.

A big thank you to the team for all the work preparing another car for me and also to all my partners for their continued support”.

Micah is currently in 2nd place in the championship, 19 points behind the leader and 2 points ahead of 3rd.

The final round of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship will be at Brands Hatch on the 23rd & 24th of October
