Tough final weekend for Maloy at Indianapolis as food poisoning halts his charge

The final round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America Cayman Championship took place at Indianapolis. On track action started on Wednesday and Nick wasted no time getting down to business taking pole position for race 1 in the Tatum Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

Race one took place on Thursday under cloudy skies with rain threatening but the rain was the least of Nicks worries as he had been up all night with food poisoning and was not feeling at all well.

Starting from Pole Nick was pushed wide into turn one dropping to third place. As they started lap two Nick took back the position from the #40 car and started to attack the leader, starting lap three Nick was closing on the leader but a miss timed lunge from the third place #40 Spun Nick around and took both car off the circuit, Nick was able to re-join the circuit, but the subsequent damage meant that Nick had to retire the car from the race.

The #40 was given a drive through penalty for causing the accident.

Race two on Friday Nick started from P2 on the grid but was really suffering from the food poisoning, extremely dehydrated he pushed as much as he could, but a couple of mistakes put him down to P7 at the flag.

Nick now moves to Sebring where he will be racing in the Skip Barber Race series in the Skip Barber Formula 4 car.
